Paint a Barn Quilt Workshop Saturday Sept. 14th Join Us!

Paint a barn quilt is a one day workshop where we will paint a geometric barn quilt.  If you don't have a barn that's okay.  You can put it on your screen porch, garage or even right beside your front door.

What's a Barn Quilt? A larger piece of wood painted to look like a quilt block. Typically they are very large and usually are placed on the exterior of a barn, house, garage or shed. Barn Quilts began in the early 2000's in Ohio and now many states have Barn Quilt Trails you can follow, including Shawano County in Wisconsin. Our barn quilts will be the size of 20 inch by 20 inch. Most barn quilts are painted with simple geometric shapes, like squares, rectangles and triangles. They usually are painted in solid colors. The simplicity in shape and the vibrancy of solid colors make these blocks easily seen from afar AND it makes they easy to create, Painter's Tape Baby!! No Experience is necessary for this workshop. All materials provided-you just need to get it home in your car. Saturday Sept. 14th 9am-2pm Bring or get some lunch.  $65 per person

They mixed, portland cement, perlite, peat moss, and water by hand then poured it into their own unique container. After a week of waiting, they released from their containers and painted them with bright summer colors. Then planted them with the friendship, good luck plant of Jade.

Summer Paper Marbling Workshop at River Arts, Inc in Prairie du Sac. Save the Date!!

Hey Friends I’m headed up to River Arts, Inc this summer in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin to do a Paper Marbling Workshop. River Arts, Inc is a great space that showcases art and artist offers classes, and enriches the downtown area of Prairie du Sac. Here is a description of the class as well as a link to sign up for the workshop.

Learn to marble paper for use in book making, writing letters, table/shelf decoration, wrapping paper, scrapbooking, or anything else you’d like to do with it! This is true suminagashi paper marbling: floating ink on water and dipping paper into it. Instructor Amy Mietzel of Bare Knuckle Arts will provide various sized vats and all the inks and paper, and guide students on adding color, mixing patterns, and dipping paper. Participants in this class can expect to make 3-5 sheets of marbled paper (maybe more depending on how fast you are!), ready to take home at the end of class.

No prior experience required; aprons are available but we suggest you wear clothing you wouldn’t mind getting dirty.
